Fanfara Defeats Ngumbu! Showtime Boxing Results

Fonfara1

The Saturday feature fight of the evening did not disappoint boxing spectators, at the University of Illinois Pavilion in the Windy City. The UIC Crowd favorite, Andrzej Fanfara (26-3, 15KOs) gets the unanimous decisions win over DouDou Ngumbu
(33-6, 12 KOs) after a contentious 10 round bout. In Round 5 Fanfara’s straights jabs, and body shots turned Ngumbu’s legs to spaghetti; he wobbled close to the ropes in hopes of finishing out the round. Yet in Round 8 Ngumbo excites the crowd taunting Fanfara. The fight did go the distance with all scores in favor of the Polish Prince. Scores were 98-92, 97-93 x 2

Spanish speaking Japanese boxing sensation Tomoki “El Mexi-can-ito” Kameda (31-0, 19 KO) remains undefeated after an overwhelming display of fighting prowess against Alejandro “Payasito” Hernandez (28-11-2,15 KOs). Japanese born Kameda, now living in Mexico celebrated “Dia de Los Muertos” (Day of the Dead) by killing Payasito’s already timid boxing career.  Kameda would get the surprising 12 round split decision win, although the stats would be lop-sided in his favor. Hernandez did pick up steam in the latter part of the match and open a half-inch cut on Kameda’s left eyelid in round 9, however, El Mexicanito sold his vision of obtaining American Superstardom with consistent punching power. Scores were 115-113 x2 Kameda, 115-113 Hernandez.

Javier “El Abejon” Fortuna (26-0-1, 19KO) closes a ten rounder in five with a Knock out win against opponent Abner “Pin” Cotto (18-3, 8 KOs) For the WBA featherweight title. Both fighters showed a lack of boxing integrity and maturity, with a back and forth of illegal tactics. Fortuna was the crisper, cleaner of the two. In round 3 Cotto gains a point for scoring a knockdown with a shot to the back of the head, then later in the round Cotto had a point deducted for hitting Fontura in the back of the head. In round 4, Cotto loses a point for throwing a punch after the bell, which by the way allowed Cotto to put on his best performance of the evening by flopping to the floor. Time was 1:32
