Crawford Shines on HBO With Impressive UD Over Beltran

Saturday night a packed crowd gathered at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska, to watch the best boxer in the 130-pound division. WBO lightweight champion and hometown kid Terence Crawford (25-0, 17KOs) gave the audience of 11,127 (nearly 200 more than attended his Gamboa defeat), what they were looking for; with a devastating win over challenger Ray Beltran (29-7-1, 17KOs.) Crawford strategically moved between orthodox and southpaw, which threatened the former Manny Pacquiao sparring partner. The fight would go the distance, with Beltran getting some good shots off in the middle rounds. Crawford would really step his fight game around the 11th, giving his most impressive performance that ended in the Unanimous decision win. Scores were 119-109, 119-109, and 120-108,

Evgeny “The Mexican Russian” Gradovich (19-0-1, 9KOs) retains his IBF featherweight title against Jayson Velez (22-0-1, 16 KOs). The fight was temporarily stopped when the bottom rope in Gradovich’s corner became loose. But once the rope was reconnected the real show began. Velez pushed body shots but that strategy would fell to the dominant force behind Gradovich’s combos. The judges were unable to crown a clear victor giving scores of 117-111 Gradovich, 115-113Velez, and 114-114 ending the fight in a draw.
