Sergio Martinez survives late scare to outpoint Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.: Full Fight Card Results

chavez-martinezIn September 15th action from the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KO’s) defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-1-1. 32 KO’s) by lopsided unanimous decision to claim the WBC middleweight belt.

Martinez dominated for the opening 11 rounds, and survived a desperation 12th round knockout from Chavez to claim the title by scores of 117-110, 118-109, and 118-109.

In other action on the card:

Roman “Rocky” Martinez (26-1-1, 16 KO’s) claimed the vacant WBO super featherweight title with a 12 round decision over Miguel Beltran Jr (27-2, 17 KO’s). Scores were 111-116, 114-113, 114-113.

Matthew Macklin (29-4, 20 KO’s) defeated Joachim Alcine (33-3-1, 19 KO’s) by 1st round TKO.

WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (11-0, 8 KO’s) defeated Robert Marroquin (22-2, 15 KO’s) by unanimous decision. Scores were 118-108 on all the score cards.

Mike Lee (11-0, 6 KO’s) defeated Paul Harness (4-4, 3 KO’s) by unanimous decision. Scores were 40-36 on all three score cards.

Willie Nelson (19-1-1) defeated John Jackson (13-1) by unanimous decision. Scores were 96-94, 96-94, and 98-92.

Michael Medina (26-3-2, 19 KO’s) defeated James Winchester (15-5, 5 KO’s) by unanimous decision. Scores were 80-70 on all three score cards.

Wale Omotoso (23-0, 19 KO’s) remained unbeaten defeated Daniel Sostre (11-7-1, 4 KO’s) by unanimous decision. Scores were 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73.
