Shiming & Gradovich Workout at Wild Card.

Zou Shiming (1-0), the two-time Olympic champion from Zunyi, China, faces his second opponent in the professional ranks when he steps in the ring with Mexico’s Jesus Orgtega (3-1). Their six round flyweight fight, billed as “Fists of Gold II? will headline at the Cotai Area in Macau on July 27, 2013.

The card also features two world title fights. In another flyweight match, Juan Estrada (23-1, 17 KOs) of Mexico defends against Filipino Milan Melindo (28-0, 11 KOs). Argentine Mauricio Munoz (26-3) challenges Evgeny Gradovich (16-0, 8 KOs) at featherweight.

Shiming and Gradovich put in their rounds at the Wild Card Boxing gym in Hollywood, CA yesterday. Also on hand for the media event were promoter Bob Arum and veteran analyst Larry Merchant.

Gradovich, also known as “the Mexican Russian? put in rounds on the mitts while teammates from the Oxnard encouraged him from ring’s edge. From his strong body shots and round punching style, it was easy to see how he earned his moniker.

Zou patiently obliged all media questions and photo requests with his wife, official interpreter, and constant companion, Ying Ying, at his side. Shiming then hit the mitts with trainer Freddie Roach, worked the double-end and speed bags, and skipped rope before cooling down.
