Free fight cards usually don’t get me this giddy, but when you put two men like Cub Swanson and Frankie Edgar in the mix, the whole game changes. Fight Night 57 is an excellent card for those just getting introduced into MMA to get a free taste of how these impeccable athletes move. Attempting to keep up with Edgar is the equivalent of trying to hunt down a fly, in your car, while you’re driving, and eating sushi. You get the idea; he has blazing fast footwork, and is forever a moving target. Swanson on the other hand is no joke; has knockout power, and is currently surfing a cool, six-fight winning streak in the UFC.

The tale of the tape looks a little like this- Frankie “The Answer? Edgar is a veteran, has some of the most exciting wars in UFC history, won his last two fights, and has a record of 16-4-1. Cub {21-5-0}, has equally earned the respect of fight fans with his definitive finishes, explosive “go for broke? fighting style, and is deservedly holding tight onto his place as #2 in the rankings.

UFC President Dana White previously mentioned that should Cub Swanson score a win during this battle that he would be next in line to go after Jose Aldo’s belt. Will the same be said for Edgar if he wins? That’s uncertain for now, however one would presume a title shot would be in the near future for Frankie. Cub has a higher striking accuracy rate, while Frankie throws more punches per minute; but will Edgar’s take downs be what favors him for points? Will Cub submit Frankie? I have a pretty telling suspicion this fight won’t see much grappling at all. You can expect Aldo will be watching in the wings, and an all-out, five round, stand up clinic at its finest by these two.

You can watch Fight Night 57 on Fox Sports 1, November 22nd at 7PM Eastern Time. UFC Fight Pass will be holding the preliminary bouts, so be certain to check those and support the undercard contenders as well.
