Strikeforce heavyweight Fabricio Werdum is all but certain that he will be Fedor Emelianenko's next opponent.

Werdum recently told Tatame.com that an April 16 showdown with Emelianenko is "99% confirmed." That show would be Strikeforce's next broadcast on CBS.

Both fighters took part in Strikeforce's first CBS show in November. Werdum, No. 11 in the USA TODAY/SB Nation consensus rankings, took a unanimous decision over former EliteXC champion Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva. Emelianenko — the consensus No. 1 since the rankings began and widely regarded as the world's top heavyweight since he won Pride's belt in 2003 — defeated No. 9 Brett Rogers with a second-round technical knockout....
