Stephane Patry, known by fight fans from his days running Canada’s defunct TKO Fighting Championship, is back in the business and is ready to unveil Instinct MMA.
8CN spoke with Patry today and verified that this new organization will debut in Montreal in October and will feature big name Canadian MMA stars including Patrick Cote and Steve Bosse. Their opponents have yet to be named, but Patry verified the opponents would be “well known U.S. and International fighters that would be announced in two weeks.” Cote and Bosse will face their opponents in co-main events, but rest assured Instinct MMA will showcase other well-known Canadian talent.
Additionally, popular Montreal Boxer Eric Barrak (5-0 boxing) will be making his MMA debut against a U.S. opponent. Barrak is best known for his cancelled fight with Tommy “The Duke” Morrison in February of this year, but also for his unbeaten 5-0 boxing record along with four 1st round knockouts.
Bosse (8-1) and Cote (15-7) have both seen time with TKO and Ringside MMA, and Cote is well remembered for his time with the UFC. Bosse of course is loved by fans who remember him as a top enforcer in the North American Hockey League.
TKO was formerly the #1 MMA organization in Canada, drawing large crowds and serving as a great showcase for premier talent such as Georges St. Pierre, Urijah Faber, and Mark Hominick.
This announcement reminds Canadian fight fans how much they miss Patry and the kind of promotion that he brings with him.
The exact date and venue for Instinct MMA’s debut, along with the fight card and television plans, will be announced in the coming weeks and 8CN will be there to provide updates as they arise.
