Article availible in Tagalog

Good day! As promised, I am back for another interview here on “Straight from D Source”. I was fortunate to be able to speak to former Super Featherweight champion Bobby Pacquiao. Bobby is currently training at the Wild Card Gym in LA where his brother Manny Pacquiao is also preparing for his December 6 clash with Oscar De la Hoya.

We talked about several things including his upcoming fight on November 20 in San Jose. Bobby also shared some information that a lot of Manny Pacquiao fans will definitely want to hear.

8 Count – Boxing Herald is here with Bobby Pacquiao. How are you doing Bobby?

BOBBY PACQUIAO  – I’m good. I’m here in training camp, training.

8 Count – What’s the news regarding your boxing career?

BOBBY PACQUIAO – Right now I have a fight this coming November 20 in San Jose for 10 rounds only.

8 Count – Who are you fighting?

BOBBY PACQUIAO – Frankel. His last name is Frankel.

8 Count – Sounds good. We’ll be watching that. How is your physical conditioning right now?

BOBBY PACQUIAO – Right now I’m doing ok. I’m in shape. Im ready to fight on November 20. I’m really ready.

8 Count – How about Manny? How is Manny doing right now and how is his training?

BOBBY PACQUIAO – Here, he just finished sparring. He’s in shape. He did really good in sparring today.

8 Count – Do you see anything different in Manny’s physical condition compared to his previous preparations and training?

BOBBY PACQUIAO – Here’s looking good and doing alright now. His weight is good. He is really strong right now because of his weight.  He’s around the 160 weight and looking strong.

8 Count – Is he doing anything different right now with his preparations that he didn’t do before and do you really think he can beat Oscar because a lot of people are nervous especially our countrymen.

BOBBY PACQUIAO – They are doing a lot of things especially with techniques they are keeping on the down low right now. He is doing a lot more sit-ups and they are really definitely doing a lot of new stuff in training.

8 Count – Let’s talk about your career. Do you have anybody out there do you want to fight or a possible rematch with people that beat you before?

BOBBY PACQUIAO – I really want a rematch. I want a rematch with everyone that beat me.

8 Count – Like that fight versus Velasquez? Do you think it was fair that they disqualified you for low blows?

BOBBY PACQUIAO – Actually, I really wanted that rematch because I never imagined that that would be the outcome. However there’s nothing right now regarding that.

8 Count – A lot of people believe that you can still be a champion that’s why they want to see you fight the top caliber boxers out there.

BOBBY PACQUIAO – I’m really doubling my training right now so I can redeem my name. I don’t want to be remembered by my recent losses. I need to get back up and restore my name.

8 Count – What has changed in your life compared to back then when you and Manny didn’t have much and were virtually unknowns. People all around the world and the whole Philippines know you right now. How has that changed your life?

BOBBY PACQUIAO – First of all I want to thank God. He always watched over me and Manny especially in the career we are in which is very dangerous. We are doing very well right now. I am very thankful to all the people that helped us along the way and prayed for us especially to all the boxing fans. II hioe they continue to support me and Manny together with the whole Philippines.

8 Count – There are people that have been reporting that Manny might retire from boxing after 2009. How about you, how long do you want to stay in boxing?

BOBBY PACQUIAO – Actually nothing is finalized in terms of those reports coming from people out there. Manny never really said that he was definitely going to stop. I guess it’s normal for people to speculate and say things like that but as far as Manny, he has not said anything about retiring.

8 Count – That’s welcome news because there are really a lot of people out there saying that Manny might be retiring after 2009. So Manny never really said anything about retiring huh?

BOBBY PACQUIAO – No nothing like that. Manny hasn’t said anything like that.

8 Count – How about you?

BOBBY PACQUIAO – On my part, I hope all Filipinos would watch out for my fight on November 20.

8 Count – Do you have any messages to your fans especially to your fans back home in the Philippines?

BOBBY PACQUIAO – To all my fans especially my countrymen here in LA and any part of the world for that matter, I hope you will continue to support me and my brother Manny. I hope you support my fight this coming November 20 in San Jose and Manny’s on December 6 in Las Vegas. I hope you all come out to support us.

8 Count – Thanks Bobby, Thanks a lot.

BOBBY PACQUIAO – Thank you very much.
