David Estrada Still Confident as Ever heading into bout with unbeaten Abregu
December 4th, 2008
Chris Robinson
Welterweight Contender David Estrada has never lacked confidence and always relished the role of the underdog. The Chicago native has dealt several previously undefeated fighters their first loss and is extremely upbeat heading into his bout this Friday with Luis Carlos Abregu, who happens to be undefeated.
"There's no question that this will be the best fight of the weekend," Estrada said recently. "Both of us come to fight. There is no boxer and puncher here, just two fighters coming to work and put on a show."
Estrada is looking to bounce back from an 8th round TKO at the hands of Jesus Soto Karass earlier this year. A fight against Abregu (24-0, 21 KO's) is one that is dangerous but well worth the risk for Estrada.
"I can't say it will be the best true welterweight fight of the weekend," Estrada admits. "But only because I am going to beat him down like you wouldn't believe.''
The ShoBox televised card takes place this Friday, December 5th at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, California. Unbeaten Heavyweight Travis Kauffman faces once beaten Malachy Farrell in the co-feature.
