If you feel the energy, like I do. If you feel the boxing excitement in the air for 2009, then Pacquiao against Hatton, let’s kick it! Just split the 50 something million, give or take a couple of million to one fighter, possibly to BOXING’S FIGHTER OF THE YEAR and let’s go! I can tell, these two men are ready to step up to the plate. As you see their personalities inside the ring, brawler, slugger, no retreat, reflects their personalities when choosing their opponents, too. These fighters are just ready to go- anytime, anywhere. This is what will make this fight so exciting. As Brad Cooney just predicted “This fight will not suck”.
One of my favorite forum nowadays is PACLAND. And if you look at all the post, everybody is just looking forward to this brawl in May 2009. At a recent post, an author asks for “The title/slogan for the Pacquiao-Hatton fight if it happens”. The fans came up with a very amusing list. So let’s start with the fan titles of the match to kick this off:
1. Savage Fury
2. Fish N’ Chips vs. Adobo (this one makes me hungry)
3. Not another mismatch (from a big fan, I suppose)
4. Typhoon vs. Hurricane
5. The non-alcoholic vs. the alcoholic (below the belt, but funny)
6. Ultimate Brawl
7. No Retreat, No Surrender (movie?)
8. Last Man Standing
9. Pac- a –ton ( this one seems to be a double entendre, as you see most Filipinos mix their Ps with their Fs)
10. Bloodbath
11. Royal Fight
12. Battle Royal
13. The Bottle In Vegas (this one made me laugh)
14. Iron Fist vs. The Drunken Master (martial arts reference)
15. Bangers Galore
16. Mayweather awaits (maybe Mayweather runs?)
17. Paputok (Tagalog for explosion)
18. Flash and Fury
19. Never Surrender
20. The Bloodbath
21. The Patriots
22. Last Man Standing
There were about 140 posts, some really below the belt in reference to alcoholism, some in Tagalog. I’m sure there will be more ideas from the fans once the certainty of the fight is known. And some slogans came with a matching poster design. All for the love of boxing, all for the love of the fight. “Savage Fury” sounds good for me from this list. What do you think?
