Money, money, Manny Pacquiao.

January 21st, 2009

Money is not evil. More money is not bad. And if Manny wants more, he earned it. I just don’t get the argument that because British fans are giving in more PPV money, Hatton deserves an equal piece of the pie. If that’s the case, why don’t we send out a checklist to all the PPV buyers? Where would they want their money to go? Check A for Hatton, or check B for Pacquiao. Huh, If that’s the case Oscar would have been the billion dollar man of boxing.

Inside the ring, when a man fights, he becomes one with his opponent. In the argument above, if one fighter is so popular, then let him fight himself in the ring. Imagine, Ricky punching his own face with a hook. Sugar Ray jabbing himself. And Lewis and Ali dancing and punching themselves in the ring.

As a fan, I don’t care who gets more or who gets less. But as I said before, a boxer risks it all when he gets inside the ring. When he put those gloves on, he’s signing off his future and in some sad cases, their lives. I truly understand why the Pacman, wants more of the share. Each time he gets in that ring he gives and he risks his all. Not only does he give quite a whirlwind maniacal show, but he comes up on top each time the odds are stacked against him. Every boxing match seem to be the fight of his life; Barrera, Morales, Marquez, De Lahoya.

And to Ricky Hatton, mate, if only you have beaten “Money” Mayweather, the boxing world won’t be having this discussion. Unfortunately, the price you have to pay for losing the biggest fight of your life is the short end of a 60-40 split. Manny is on top of the boxing world. He beat them all. He is the king. If you want to dethrone him, you just have to pay up. The Hitman still has a chance to redeem the “Money” loss. As you can see, this one goes beyond the few million dollar difference. This one is for boxing history.

If Ricky won’t cough it up, then he just have to step aside and lose his chance for redemption. For being the king, Manny has all the options. I’m still drooling over a Margarito-Pacquiao fight. Cotto just called him up. The other “Money” may be willing to step up and put it all on the line. How about the dynamite? The other Diaz? Campbell? Hec, bring on Paul Williams as well. Because at this moment, Pacquiao is money. No buts, no ifs.
