Over the past year, South Florida has become like a second home to Lightweight Contender and Benin, West Africa native Anges ‘Baby Face’ Adjaho. Having learned just recently that he will be fighting Antonio DeMarco this coming July 11th, Adjaho is again set to leave his current home of Geneva, New York this weekend and make way for another training camp in Miami, Florida.
The Adjaho-DeMarco bout will serve as the chief support to the Showtime televised clash between Vic Darchinyan and Joseph Agbeko at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida, the same venue as Adjaho’s last fight. A trip down to Florida is something Adjaho has always looked forward to and despite not knowing much about his opponent he is simply ready to fight again.

“I haven’t seen DeMarco fight before,” Adjaho concedes. “But I am will be ready when we fight. I just want to do the right thing and make sure than I am ready for this fight. This fight means a lot.”
Adjaho will be working under the tutelage of his trainer, Colin Morgan, when he arrives in Miami. The relationship that Adjaho has with Morgan is very strong, as their contrasting personalities feed off of one another.
“I love working with Coach Morgan,” Adjaho says with pride. “I can tell that he has a lot of love and care for my career and that makes all the difference. You need to trust your corner and I have a lot of faith in him.”
In the past Adjaho had trained at Contender’s Gym under the guidance of former champion John David Jackson and his assistant trainer Chico Carbajal. While admitting that he misses those days in Fort Lauderdale, Adjaho knows a change in trainers was for the best.
“I really like working with them,” Adjaho says of Jackson and Carbajal. “They are good trainers but that gym is so crowded sometimes that they don’t have time for every fighter because they are so busy. When I am with Coach Morgan he can give me more focus and that’s what I need right now.”
In his last fight, this past Valentine’s night, Adjaho won a unanimous decision over Fernando Angulo to further enhance his career. In DeMarco, however, he will be going up against a young and versatile fighter who is coming off of an impressive stoppage over Almazbek Raiymkulov this past February. Adjaho knows the importance of this fight and is sure not to let the opportunity slip away.
“This means everything to me,” Adjaho claims. “I need to win this fight so I can continue taking care of my family. I also need to win if I want to become a world champion. This year is going to be great for me and I can’t wait.”
