IBF Bantamweight Champion Joseph Agbeko recently contacted 8 Count News as he was on his way to New York’s LaGuardia Airport to confirm that he is getting ready to fly down to Miami, Florida to start camp for his upcoming showdown against
dangerous puncher Vic Darchinyan.
“I have waited for this fight for a long time and it’s finally here,” a joyful Agbeko claims. “Darchinyan is going to be in for a big surprise when we meet.”
The Agbeko-Darchinyan showdown is scheduled for July 11th at the Bank Atlantic Center is Sunrise, Florida. The matchup pits a worthy champion in Ghana’s Agbeko as he defends his belt against an ultra confident Darchinyan who has regained his luster as a champion and is venturing north towards a new weight class.
Darchinyan’s last three fights have been impressive stoppage victories over former champions Dmitri Kirilov, Cristian Mijares, and Jorge Arce. While Darchinyan’s name value and exciting style will lead him to be the favorite in the eyes of many, several insiders are pointing to Agbeko’s proven toughness, durability, and fighting instincts to give the Armenian all he can handle.
Agbeko will arrive in Florida later today and will most likely make a pit stop at his promoter Don King’s office before heading to Miami to settle into camp. This is the biggest fight on the proud African’s career and when sizing up his chances in the fight, he offers a bold and simple proclamation.
“Defeat is not my destiny.”
Stay tuned to 8 Count News as we will be in camp with Agbeko over the upcoming weeks as he prepares for the Darchinyan showdown…
