Hollywood, CA- Former heavyweight champion Michael Moorer has been fired by Freddie Roach due to a conflict of personalities that had been creating issues amongst the wild card stable.
8countnews.com has just been informed by Freddie Roach that Moorer was asked to leave his position as assistant trainer primarily due to a personality conflict between he and Manny Pacquiao, and he and Amir Khan.
Freddie went on to say, “ Amir Kahn approached me and said; Freddie I want you to be my trainer, not Michael Moorer” According to Roach, Pacquiao's sentiments are the same concerning Moorer.
Additionally, 8CN was informed by Freddie Roach that he wants to make it clear that there were no hard feelings and thanks Michael for his contributions during his brief involvement with the Wild Card Gym.
This announcement comes as no surprise to this writer. When 8CountNews.com was invited to Wild Card Gym by Freddie in March, I personally witnessed the chemistry issue between Moorer and some of the Wild Card staff. Personally speaking, I myself was subjected to some of Moorer's personality issues and went out of my way to be nice to the man, and in return was treated in a less than professional way, putting it mildly.
Moorer is a former heavyweight champion, and he should be respected as such. With that said, the respect due him for his acheivments inside of the ring doesn't apply to the man outside of the ring.
I grew up with Michael Moorer. He was always a down to earth individual. I don't know the individual that these comments speak of. He always treated me as a friend. His whole family was that way. I was in the Marine Corp with his brother Joe. I could never ask to know a better family as his. Maybe you are letting your egos in the way of knowing the true Michael.
Editors note - Troy, the true Michael made a lot of enemies when he worked for Freddie at Wild Card Gym. One the reasons he was fired by Roach was due to his bully type tactics and how he treated the people that have been going to that gym for years. I witnessed his behavior myself many times while visiting the gym out there. He may have been a great guy growing up with you, but it appears he's not the same person now. He was a great champion inside of the ring, and I truly hopes that he can find happiness again, because what I witnessed when around him, he's not a happy person.

When I heard that Michael Moorer was hired to be Freddie's assistant...I knew it was only a matter of time. He would either get fired, or get pissed off and walk out. A 24/7 episode hinted that his departure was inevitable..... telling gym members to: stand back and don't touch the counter, so he can't breath their bad breath. MM is not a people person and is easily aggravated by minor things. As his former trainer, Freddie should have known this.

Okay, well I guess that's how it all goes down. But, man. Manny looked sharp against Hatton and I even recall Moorer instructing Manny to remember his head comes when throws his hook. Manny's hook put down Hatton and the replay you see him ducking the counter after throwing the hook. Awesome stuff. Hmmm, something good must of rubbed off on Manny. But, whatever the case I just want to see the best out of Manny come fight nights. All he'll be fine.

Just the right thing to do.Freddie did not find the positive difference he was hoping in Moorer. It is commendable to promote Buboy as Freddie's gym assistant other than Pacquiao's personal assistant.

I noticed when Manny walked to the ring on his last fight Moorer was beside him together with Batista and Roach was no where in sight. I'm sure he was in his usual low key profile. Moorer must have thought he deserved to be in the limelight more than the great coach. Now he deserves to be sacked.

I hope to God that Michael Moorer is not an INFORMANT I repeat A RAT. For all these months Michael has been with Manny and Roach or even Khan, I hope he does not fall into getting bribed in releasing tactics to whomever oppose Roaches boxers. I can see Michael getting payed $1 Million dollar's from someone to expose roaches fighter's. After what happened to Michael, it seems that this was all a plan.

Yes i agree most of the comments here. i find Moorer too bossy. Remember the conflict between Team Pacquiao w/ the rules when Moorer was there training w/ Manny, that even Buboy was sent out of the gym..? he's not a good outfit of the whole peaceful atmosphere of the WCG. The gym is for nice & humble guys like Team Pacquiao & the rest in there.

I am not surprised that Moorer left. I noticed even in the 24/7 episodes on HBO that Moorer was very authoritative when training Manny. His role is supposed to be that of an Assistant trainer, not Lead trainer. But the way he projected himself he appeared and spoke as if he were the head trainer in charge. I was concerned that with both Freddie and Michael barking orders that eventually there might be a conflict and even competition among the two trainers. But the issue was both Khan and Manny wanted to be trained by Freddie, not Michael. Given Michael's authoritative over-powering manner in providing advice, he seems to be running the show, which is not what the boxers want.

i kinda miss Buboy yelling his and Freddie Roach's instructions to Manny in the DLH bout over the screaming of 9,000 fans. i was really proud of Buboy that night.
I don't know him personally but i'm hoping with little help from Freddie and with more exposure, Buboy could be the 1st Filipino world class trainer.
i wish Michael the best of luck in his future endeavors.
on another note, people will not have to worry about forking over a dollar everytime they accidentally lean against his counter/whatever. he made that poor Filipino guy look like a fool handing him a dollar for violating his precious thang.

Moorer is an a-hole. I never liked the guy. Imo, he was useless in WCG. He's an extortionist too. Yes, I'm talking about the counter top 1 dollar penalty thing.
