Butler, PA – Fighting in front of his hometown fans, Brian Minto (34-2, 21 KO’s) defeated Ivanhoe, North Carolina’s Donnell Holmes (31-1-2, 27 KO’s) via a four round technical decision after a ruled accidental headbutt cause a cut the ringside physician deemed serious enough to stop the fight. The fight was broadcast worldwide as a PPV on www.NESportsTV.com and is still available to view on demand.
After opening up clearly winning the first three rounds, Minto began bleeding from over his left eye in round four and had blood streaming down his face. The 4th round was clearly Holmes best round as he regularly connected his left jab to Minto’s face
Minto told the ringside doctor that his vision was blurry after the fourth frame due to the gash and the fight went to the scorecards. Minto won via scores of 40-36 (twice) and 39-37. 8countnews.com scored the fight in favor of Minto 39-37.
Afterwards, Holmes camp complained about the outcome to officials. A review has been tentatively scheduled for next week to review video of the fight. If it is determined by the commission after seeing the tape that an accidental headbutt did not occur to cause the injury, the outcome may be changed to a no contest.
