Brooklyn Gets Robbed in Houston - Diaz Gets Gift UD

August 22nd, 2009

In what Paulie Malignaggi predicted perfectly, a robbery took place in Houston, Texas.  A small ring, a tough weight to make, and THREE Texas judges were just too much for the kid from Brooklyn to overcome.  HBO's Harold Lederman scored it correctly in my eyes, at 115/113 as I had it scored the same way.  Nothing against Juan Diaz by any stretch, he came to fight as always, but Malignaggi clearly outboxed him.  The scores were ridiculous, 116/110 115/113 and 118/110??? The 115/113 score for Diaz was the only score that remotely came close, but even that was wrong.  Malignaggi had much faster hands, and turned Diaz all night.  Diaz had his moments, but at the end of the day, this was Malignaggi's fight and anyone that knows how to truly score a fight knows it.  Add yet one more black eye to the sport, and add three more either incompetent judges or crooked judges to the pile for boxing.

Danny Jacobs UD over Ishe Smith

Robert Guerrero UD over Malcolm Klassen

Full fight report from ringside coming soon.
