Mayweather/Marquez card - Is it enough to beat UFC 103?
September 7th, 2009
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is looking to make his return to the ring against Juan Manuel Marquez on September 19, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. There is a lot of anticipation surrounding this fight. The Mayweather/Marquez undercard needs to be a good one to help beat UFC 103. With Zab Judah pulling out of the undercard unexpectedly, Antonio Diaz is currently left without an opponent. Also joining the undercard will be former WBC USNBC Featherweight Champ Cornelius Lock. Lock told 8countnews, "I am no longer training with Roger Mayweather.I have a new trainer and he will be in my corner at the fight."
Lock looks to redeem himself after recently suffering a defeat on ESPN2 against Antonio Escalante. Cornelius has been training in Michigan and looks mentally focused and ready to do damage in the ring. Also added to the card will be Floyd Mayweather Jr's upcoming middleweight star Dion Savage. This undefeated kid is quickly being recognized as a TKO kid. Savage will bring his confidence and punching power into the ring, and looks to add another win to his record.
The rest of the card features featherweight world champion Chris John vs. Rocky Juarez, and lightweights Michael Katsidis vs. Vicente Escobedo. Batamweights Abner Mares, welterweight Said Ouali, Lightweight Jesse Vargas are awaiting to find out who their opponents are. Will this be enough to beat UFC 103? We will see after September 19 which card is better.
Writers notes: I'm very good friends with 5 of the fighters on the Mayweather/Marquez card but wishes everyone good luck.
