What does a promotion company do when two of the top fights on the card fall through?  They bang the phones and make the card happen.  This is what happened to Prize Fight promotions with two opponents pulling out of the fight at the last minute.  A lot of people look forward to the fights at Fitzgerald's Casino in Tunica, MS so Prize Fight did what it had to do and put together a night of exciting fights anyway.  Rising prospect Mark Davis and lightweight prospect Tyrese Hendrix both had their opponents pull out at the last minute, but the fans still were treated to an exciting night of fights just the same.

In the main event cruiserweight prospect Daniel Sackey (13-1-1-6KO) banged out a 6 round unanimous decision over the always tough Ross Thompson (27-14-17KO).  It was not exactly an action packed fight as Thompson felt compelled to throw one punch at a time, and followed up each punch with a bear hug.  There was a lot of grabbing and holding throughout the fight forcing referee Randy Phillips to give out numerous hold warnings.  Sackey did what he had to do against an opponent that decided to hold rather than fight.  The official scores were 59/55 60/54 and 59/55  UD Sackey

Dante Moore (6-0-4KO) VS Nathan Kempa (1-1-1KO)

This fight started out looking like it was going to be a beatdown for Dante Moore, however Kempa was in better fight condition and kept on coming and coming.  Kempa survived a second round knockdown compliments of a beautiful left hook thrown by Moore.  He got up and kept coming forward making this an exciting fight to watch.  Moore was the more skilled fighter but Kempa was better conditioned, and probably would have won this fight if the fight was a 6 round or and 8 round fight.  Moore got out of there with a 4 round UD.  Official scores 39/36 38/37 39/36

John Temple vs Winston Mathis

Undefeated Winston Mathis (5-0-2KO) outworked John Temple (6-11-2D-1KO).   UD Mathis - official scores 40/36 all three judges.

Jake Thomas (1-0-1D) VS Billy Cunningham (3-4-3KO)

Jake Thomas boxed a beautiful match, switching from southpaw to orthodox throughout the fight.  When Thomas fought from the orthodox stance, he would land his big right hand almost at will.  Thomas would cruise to a 4 round UD - official scores - 40/36 all three judges.

Mike Wilson (2-0-1KO) VS Larry Slayton (1-1)

Heavyweight Mike Wilson (trained by Ronnie Shields) outworked a tough Larry Slayton.  Wilson banged out 4 rounds against a tough opponent.  8CN spoke with Ronnie Shields about his young prospect so check out the podcast on the front page.  Wilson was able to wear down his opponent with clean body shots late in the fight.  Slayton was warned a few times throughout the fight for excessive holding.  Wilson went of to get a UD - official scores 40/36 all three judges.
