Agbeko to face Perez Halloween night in Vegas
October 14th, 2009
Joseph "King Kong" Agbeko of Ghana is returning to action Halloween night. He is fresh off his victory against Armenian hero Vic Darchinyan.Agbeko is scheduled for a 12 round bout and it could be a frightening Halloween night for his opponent Yonnhy "El Colombiano" Perez 19-0.Perez will be looking to maintain his undefeated record.
This fight for the IBF Batamweight title will be in the mecca of boxing Las Vegas,Nevada.Vegas is the perfect plato for this fight.Don King Productions is behind putting together this terrific card.Hosting this event is Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, which has never held a boxing match. As always leave it to Don King to make power moves.Phil Ruffin who recently purchased Treasure Island from MGM Mirage reached out to Don King. Ruffin has admired Kings work in Las Vegas for years.
Agbeko/Perez and DeMarco/Alfaro will be the only fights broadcast on Showtime. Perez has not fought a top fighter like Agbeko. This will not be a walk in the park for Perez who lacks as much ring experience as Agbeko.Agbeko is talented and is a power puncher. On the other hand Perez is a very smart fighter that wont run from punches but will answer back.
This card also features WBC number 1 lightweight: Antonio DeMarco against Jose Alfaro
heavyweights: DaVarryl Williamson vs.Ray Austin welterweight James De la Rosa vs. TBA light middleweight: David Lopez vs. TBA heavyweight: Bermane Stiverne vs. TBA welterweight: Angelo Santana vs. TBA
