Kockout king Bailey making his return to the ring
December 9th, 2009
One of the most ferocious punchers in all of boxing, Randall “The Knockout King” Bailey will end a busy 2009 with an 8 round bout against veteran Germaine “Silky” Sanders, Saturday night in Chicago on the under card of the highly anticipated Malignaggi-Diaz rematch. A light welterweight throughout his entire career, the 35 year old two-time world champion Bailey is looking to make his mark on the welterweight division. Currently ranked 8th by the IBF, Bailey has been preparing for his fight at the Contenders Gym in Ft. Lauderdale with trainer John David Jackson by sparring Angino Perez.
The fan-friendly fighter made two appearances in 2009 on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights. In a candidate for “knock out of the year”, Bailey demolished Francisco “Gato” Figueroa to become the IBF #1 contender. Then in the ESPN season finale in August, Randall Bailey and Juan Urango squared off in a battle of elite power punchers for the IBF light welterweight title. While Bailey lost the bout, he was just a moment away from capturing his third world title with a huge right hand that sent the Columbian champion to the deck for the first time in his career. Even with the set back, Bailey showed the world why he is one of the most feared punchers in all of boxing.
