Hector "Macho" Camacho Interview
February 21st, 2010
It’s Macho Time! Legendary boxer Hector “Macho” Camacho talked to 8CN Friday night while taking a break from training camp in Tampa, FL. The 47 year old future hall of famer is showing no signs of slowing down.
8CN: It is an honor to be here with you champ. What is the latest with the greatest?
Camacho: Thank you. I am doing good. Just training over here in Tampa for another world title shot next month in Denmark.
8CN: How is training camp going?
Camacho: Camp is going great. I had to beg Gato[Figueroa] to come work with me. He is the best and gives me great work. Working with guys like that keeps me young.
8CN: With a win next month, you will capture another title. You have won belts all the way from super featherweight up to middleweight. At 47 years old, how much longer do you see yourself boxing?
Camacho: Boxing is something I have done all my life. That is what I am best at. Most people my age aren’t in this good of shape. I still feel like I have some fight left in me.
8CN: Your son, Hector Jr. is also a very accomplished boxer. How is he doing and does he have anything coming up?
Camacho: I am not really sure. I know he is supposed to be fighting in the next month or so, but I really don’t know the details behind it.
8CN: Any final comments for all your fans out there?
Camacho: You know it. It’s Macho Time Baby! Eleven Time world champion, going back to the top.
