So let's get into this.....
Former Jr middleweight world champ and Contender series one champ, Sergio Mora will be facing Ishmail Arvin on April 3rd, in Las Vegas. Mora will be the semi Main Event on the Bernard Hopkins vs. Roy Jones Jr card.
8CN has learned that former US Olympian Jason Estrada will face former world title challenger Tony Thompson on ESPN FNF's on April 16th. No venue has been nailed down as of yet, however it looks like the city will be Memphis, TN.
Also, look for King Kong Joseph Agbeko to make his return to the ring on April 16th, in South Africa. Agbeko will take on South Africa's Vusi Malinga

Here are a few Emails that I have received over the past few weeks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cooney,
Thanks for bringing us so close to Roy Jones Jr. Roy has been my idol ever since I was a kid. Do you think he has a chance to defeat Bernard Hopkins again?
Larry S Austin, TX
Larry,
I do think that Roy has a chance. I think he has a good chance to defeat Hopkins, especially if we can see the same quickness that we saw when he took apart Jeff Lacy in Biloxi, Mississippi. Hopkins has looked pretty good in his last few efforts, so I do not think it's going to be a walk in the park for Roy. With that said, if Roy uses his speed and stays off the ropes, he can win this fight for sure.

You are lucky to be so close with the Pacquiao team. I read your updates from Los Angeles and thanks for that. I live in the Philippines, and am a die hard Pacman fan. Do you think Manny will retire from boxing soon?
Kenneth
Kenneth,
Manny in my opinion has a few more fights left in him before he calls it quits. He may even continue to fight even if he is elected. Pacquiao told me personally that he may continue on even if he is elected to congress. Make no mistakes about it though, Manny wants Mayweather Jr before it's all said and done.

Mr Brad
My name is Gerry a huge Holyfield fan for years. I wish Evander would just retire though. It is tough to see a legend continue to fight so long after his prime. Do you think that Evander should retire? I am interested in your thoughts.
Gerry,
Honestly? I don't think Holyfield should retire. If the man wants to fight, why not let him fight? I have seen 400lb heavyweights so out of shape that it's unreal that a commission would sanction their fights, but they do. I have seen fighters matched up against promoters most cherished prospects that were just about killed in the ring because they were so inferior in boxing skills, yet they are granted permission to fight. Holyfield even today is in better shape than 70 percent of the current heavyweights. I agree that it is hard to watch Holyfield fight today because it's obvious that he is no longer the fighter that he once was. With that said, he stays in great shape and has not been hurt in the ring in years. There is a rumor that Mike Tyson and Don King are talking of a possible comeback. Holyfield's name came up as a possible opponent, but he categorically denied it right here on 8CN. Will Tyson really come back? I don't know, maybe. You can read up on what Ron Borges had to say about it here - http://www.thesweetscience.com/boxing-article/7798/return-tyson-don-king-hatching-plan-bring-back-man/

Mr Cooney,
8CountNews.com has really made a lot of noise and with the addition of the great Roy Jones to your fold of writers, it is very impressive. I also love reading Maureen Shea! Her blog is the bomb. I am a girl, I live in PI so yea I am a big Manny Pacquiao fan. Do you think Manny can beat Floyd Mayweather if they do fight?
Lynn from Cebu
Lynn,
I would be stupid to ever count Manny Pacquiao out of any fight no matter who it was against. If he does eventually fight Mayweather, it would be a good fight. Manny's aggressive style and high number of punches, and speed would make trouble for Mayweather. Floyd would have to take the action to Manny as well. He wouldn't be able to lay back and just rely on counter punching. If he did that, he would give too many rounds away to Manny. Mayweather is a brilliant counter puncher, and he is very fast as well. I do not think either guy would dominate and the fight would end up going to the cards. I think Mayweather will have some trouble dealing with the amount of punches that Manny throws. The short answer to your question is YES, I certainly do think Manny can beat Mayweather. Concerning having Roy Jones Jr on the 8Count Team? It's an honor to have such a legend as a part of our team. Roy is a class act, and 8CN only deals with class acts so it's a great marriage.

That's it for now folks. I will ring in from time to time with more scoops and mail bag answers. Send your questions to bradcooney@8countnews.com and I will do my best to answer them for you!
