8CN Q&A with Joseph "King Kong" Agbeko

March 19th, 2010

8CountNews spoke with former world champion Joseph "King Kong" Agbeko and got his thoughts on his upcoming fight scheduled for April 16th.  Agbeko is slated to fight Vusi Maligna in South Africa on April 16th.  Agbeko shares his thoughts on Joshua Clottey's performance vs. Pacquiao as well. Both men being from Ghana Africa, Agbeko had an interest in his fellow countryman's performance.  Check out what else "King Kong" had to say.

8CN - Thanks for joining us.

JA - Thank you for having me on 8CN.

8CN - Your next fight will be against Vusi Malinga in South Africa, how do you feel about fighting him in his back yard?

JA - I feel normal, this is my second time going to south africa and i hope the officiating will be fair.

8CN - You are coming off of a very tough loss to Yhonny Perez. How important is this next fight for you to get back into the win collumn?

JA - This fight is very important for me because I need to get back my title from perez and I can't do that without beating Vusi Malinga, so winning this fight is the only choice for me, and I know am going to win at all cost.

8CN - You defeated Vic Darchinyan, would you be interested in a rematch against him?

JA - Vic is still fighting at super fly weight, if he wants a rematch I will give him one, but not until I get my title back.

8CN - When do you think you will get a world title shot again?

JA - I am getting a world title shot right after my fight with vusi malinga.

8CN - Being from Ghana I am sure you were interested in Joshua Clottey's fight against Manny Pacquiao. What are your thoughts on Clottey;s performance?

JA - I think clottey did well even though he lost, Pacman is a great fighter and very fast, so I think clottey has done his best.

8CN - What kind of fight do you think this will be against Malinga?

JA -  It is going be a fight of fire works, that is if he's ready for the fire that I will be bringing to him

8CN - What does Malinga bring into the ring with him that gets your respect?

JA -  I respect any boxer once he puts on the boxing gloves to fight me. He's a good boxer that is why he was rated number 8 by the IBF.

8CN - Put it into your words how important it is for you to win the world title again.

JA - Being a world champion is my desire therefore I always want to be called "champion" while I am still in this game. So I need a world title to get that title "champ" again.

8CN - Do you have anything going on that the fans would be interested in, outside of boxing?

JA - Before I was trying to come out with a music album. I have been putting everything aside as of late because my main focus is on winning the world title again, then any other thing will follow.

8CN - Do you have any closing thoughts for your fans?

JA - I want to say "sorry" for disappointing them the other time, I promise to win this time around.
