May 23rd, 2010
8CountNews was ringside in Tunica, MS for Prize Fight Promotions Fight's at the Fitz. We caught up with the very impressive heavyweight prospect Adam Kownacki shortly after his very impressive 4th round knockout over Yohan Banks. This heavyweight prospect (3-0-3KO) is from Poland, but grew up for most of his life in Brooklyn, New York. A former Golden Gloves champion, Kownacki brings a plethora of skills into the ring even at his young age. Kownacki trains at Global Boxing in New Jersey along side current heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek. Last night in Tunica, 8CN caught up with this young man and got his thoughts on his performance, and what may lay ahead for his bright young career.
You can listen to the Podcast of this interview below.
8CN - Adam give me your thoughts on your performance tonight.
AK - It was a W but I was hoping for more. We worked in the gym for more jabs, but around the 3rd or 4th round I stuck to my gameplan and he got a standing 8 count, and a stoppage in the 4th.

8CN - Did he hurt you at all?.
AK - Nah, he didn't hurt me. He was strong and I felt his weight, but he had no snap. We banged in the first few rounds (laughs) I didn't give up though.
8CN - This was a fight that the fans love to see. A lot of bombs being thrown, so is that important to you? To give the fans their money's worth?
AK - Yes, I love to give the fans a good fight. I just need to settle down a little bit more, this is the pro's now.
8CN - What's been the biggest transition for you going from the amateur program to the pro's?
AK - To use my jab, and to stick with it. I haven't been doing that. It's bombs away, so I need to stick to the gameplan. . 8CN - You are with Global Boxing. Talk about Global Boxing.
AK - It's been great, we have a great team. We have great coaches in Leon Taylor and we have Maureen Shea. I have Mark who is a great manager, it's been a Hell of a ride.
8CN - Talk about the fans that you had in the crowd.
AK - It's been great I have fans that followed me all the way down here from Brooklyn. It's great only having 3 fights and for them to come to see me fight is great.
8CN - Tomasz Adamek has a huge following. Talk about the importance of building up a fan following not only from America, but a Polish fan base as well.
AK - Yes I was born in Poland, and I was raised in America. It's the best of both worlds.
8CN - Give me some closing thoughts for your fans.
AK - I want to thank my fans, keep cheering.
