8CountNews.com caught up with the IBA super bantamweight world champion Ana Julaton. Ana has a big fight coming up on June 30th, 2010 at the Casino Rama, in Rama, Ontario Canada. Julaton will face Maria Elena Villalobos for the vacant WBO Super bantamweight world title. Check out what Ana had to say in this exclusive 8CN interview.
8CN – What's going on Ana?
AH – Yep, this Wednesday on TSN in Canada. It will also be shown on GMA TV.
8CN – What do you know about your opponent?
AH – She's pretty strong. She has a good strong right hand and she had a nice knockout awhile back. She is going to bring it to me, and I feel like I am ready.
8CN – You're back with Freddie Roach, talk about that.
AH – It's been great. Ever since the first day he's been working on a game plan. We have been working great on the mitts as well. His communication with me is excellent, and it's been great being back at the Wild Card gym around fighters that have the same goals that I have.
8CN – What are the keys for victory for you in this fight?
AH – Just to box. The object is to throw as many punches at your opponent without getting hit. We are looking for big things.
8CN – Freddie is known for creating great game plans. Talk about how important it is to go into a fight with a great game plan.
AH – The way that Freddie explains things, and the way that he sees things is pretty incredible. It's amazing how he just puts it all together. That's why he's a 4 time trainer of the year, and I feel very honored to have him in my corner.
8CN – You're going back to Canada. Last time in Canada you came up short in your word title bid. Tell the fans why this time will be different.
AH – I feel like I have been working harder and more focused. When I came up short last time, I didn't let it distract me. I took about a week off, thought about stuff, and I'm back in the gym. I just want to put on exciting fight for the fans, and get this world title.
8CN – What motivates you?
AH – You know (laughs) it's such a tough sport. For me being a female in a male dominated sport, makes me have to work even harder. The whole atmosphere of boxing itself can be difficult. I want to change people's minds about female boxing. I feel like that's a fight worth going for. I want to tell people, ' I told you so.'
8CN – You can go from being on the cover of Everlast to the cover of Cosmopolitan.
AH – Being a female fighter, that can be an advantage. (laughs)
8CN – You are going back to Canada. They treated you very well the last time you were up there.
AH – I can't wait to get there. We leave tomorrow morning, we will post up the schedule shortly.
8CN – What are your thoughts on the Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao saga?
AH – I think it creates drama and fun for the fans as it goes back and forth. If it will happen or not, is hard to say. If it happens, it will be an exciting fight to watch, that's for sure.
8CN – Thanks for your time Ana. Do you have any closing thoughts?
AH – I want to say thank you for your support, and thanks to all of my support in USA and in Canada, and Philippines.... Check out the fight on TSN TV, June 30th. July 4th on GMA TV!
