Evander Holyfield's next opponent named

August 10th, 2010

As reported last week by 8CN’s very own Brad Cooney, future Hall of Famer Evander Holyfield is set to return to the ring November 5th at the famed Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The four time heavyweight champion is slated to square off against veteran Sherman Williams for the WBF Heavyweight title.

“This is a huge opportunity for Sherman:” said Williams’ manager Si Stern. “ He has been working very hard in the gym and is now overseas working with Wladimir [ Klitschko]. We will bring him back down to South Florida after Wladimir’s camp is over with and he will work with John David Jackson for a month.” Sherman is in great shape and a win over Evander would set up a lot of big things.” Williams boast a solid record of 34-11-2, with notable wins over Gabe Brown, Cisse Salif, and former world champion Alfred “Ice” Cole. In his last fight, Williams had a nine fight winning streak snapped against undefeated German prospect Manuel Charr.
