Mayweather scared of Pacquiao? Not hardly

August 13th, 2010

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr is being accused by many of the Pacquiao fans as being "scared" of Manny Pacquiao.  Do people honetly believe this, or are they just venting because Floyd hasn't signed when they want him to sign?  Do people really think Floyd is scared to fight Pacquiao?  Recently 8CN's Lorne Scoggins spoke with a boxing insider that requested to be kept anonymous.  This person sited a few reasons as to why he thinks Floyd has not signed yet.  Two of those reasons we here at 8CN have already reported on.

1- Tax reasons - Floyd does not want to deal with paying taxes on up to 40 million dollars in 2010.  The tax issue a real issue, and it is not trumped up or an excuse because Floyd is "scared" to fight.  Let's keep this real folks.

2 - Roger Mayweather - Floyd's coach is staring at jail time if convicted for last years alleged assault on a female boxer in Las Vegas. This is a real situation and not some excuse that he's scared to fight Pacquiao.  Again, let's keep it real folks.  No fighter wants to go into battle without their head trainer, especially against Manny Pacquiao.

Now, the third reason that Lorne's source talked about was that Floyd hates Bob Arum  and would rather deal with Don King. - Read the article here

This is a real possibility especially with the recent Mayweather, King sighting all over the place.  According to Lorne's report, Mayweather can't stand Bob Arum, and did not like the deadline that was put down.

I recently spoke to Roy Jones Jr about this, and Roy hit it on the head.  Roy said, " Floyd probably didn't like being told when he had to sign the contract."

This fight is much bigger then most people think it is.  There are many implications that are going on behind the scenes.  It is really convenient for fans to say that Floyd is scared, but come on, really?

We all know how passionate Manny Pacquiao fans can be.  They have a great fighter in Manny Pacquiao, and they all have a right to be extremely proud of their fighter.  Pacquiao has loyal fans, and that loyalty sometimes even gets mixed with blind rage if anyone remotely comes close to disrespecting their champion.

Some people do believe that Floyd is scared but most of those people are the fans.  Most of Floyd's peers in boxing do not think that he's scared to fight Pacquiao.  Even those fighters that do not like Floyd believe that he will win the fight, and that he is not scared to fight either.

There is only one way to find out the truth behind all of this.  The two men need to figure it all out and get into the ring.  Hopefully this fight will happen.  I can think of 50 million reasons why it will.
