Former NABA and NABF lightweight champion Edner ‘Cherry Bomb’ Cherry returns next week, Saturday August 28th, on the season finale of ESPN’s boxing schedule. His opponent will be up and coming lightweight prospect Omri Lowther (14-1). Cherry holds notable wins over former world champion Stevie Johnston, Jamie Rangel, Monty Meza Clay, and Daniel Alicea and Wes Ferguson. No stranger to ESPN’s airwaves, most of his biggest wins occurred on their network.
The Cherry-Lowther bout replaces the highly anticipated fight featuring rising star David Lemiux. The undefeated Lemiux (23-0 22 KO’s) pulled out of the main event with an injury. The card will still take place in Montreal, Canada at the Metroplex.
