Has the final drum sounded for Ricky Hatton?

Two-time IBF and IBO light welterweight champion Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton has reveled that his days in the ring are over. At least as a fighter.

Although the 31-year-old Hatton now feels complacent as a promoter he say's he still renewed his boxing license. Like many great champions before him Hatton said “you can never say never” because the urge to fight may hit him again. Following a 16 month hiatus after being knocked out by Manny Pacquiao he made another attempt by establishing a training camp. Hatton explained to BBC Radio Manchester earlier today that it just wasn't the same and decided to call it quits.

“The next best thing to being a champion is creating a champion” Hatton said.
