"I only want to fight someone who respects people and the fighter" - Manny Pacquiao

8CountNews just sat down with the 8 division world champion Manny Pacquiao and got his thoughts on his big upcoming fight Vs. Shane Mosley scheduled for May 7th.  Pacquiao talks about the keys to victory over Mosley and how his camp has gone thus far.   Manny also addresses recent comments made by the Mayweathers.  Pacquiao tells 8CN that he only has an interest in fighting someone that respects other people.  Pacquiao calls for sportsmanship both inside and outside of the ring.  The 8 division world champ also talks about his visit with President Obama!

8CN - Manny welcome back to America.

MP - Thank you very much.  I am back in Los Angeles to resume training.

8CN - How did the first half of training in the Philippines go?

MP - Well it was good, we did our best out there.  We trained hard.

8CN - I heard it was one of the best camps you have had so far.

MP - Yea! I did my best for the first 3 weeks, and Freddie Roach is very happy with how I did.

8CN - Did you spar Shawn Porter?

MP - Yes I sparred 7 rounds with Shawn Porter.

8CN - How did Shawn do against you?  He's a good fighter.

MP - Yea, he gave me good work.  He moves like Mosley's style.

8CN - Let's talk about Shane Mosley. What do you believe the keys to victory are for you?

MP - The keys are my speed and power.  I don't underestimate Shane Mosley because he's bigger and a strong fighter. He's never been knocked down.

8CN - What kind of fight do you think it will be?

MP - Whatever type of fight it will be, I will be ready.  I am practicing different technique and strategy.  I am ready for whatever fight happens.

8CN - Shane's last two fights Vs. Mora and Mayweather weren't his best.  Do you think it was because both fighters are awkward in style, or do you think Shane slowed down because he got older?

MP - I don't think it's because he's older.  I think he took Mora lightly because he's not a popular fighter like Mayweather. This time he is fighting me, and I know he will be doing his best to win the fight.  I will be 100 percent ready for the fight.

8CN - So you believe that Shane will do much better Vs. you?

MP - Absolutely yes.  It's a big win for him if he beats me, but I wont let that happen to me. I am training hard and focusing hard on this fight.

8CN - Do you think that you will eventually fight Mayweather?

MP - I don't have an idea.  It's up to him if he wants to fight or not.  

8CN - If not Mayweather, what about Marquez?

MP - What I want is to fight someone who knows how to respect people, and knows how to respect a fighter also.

8CN - I don't know if you heard about this, but Floyd Mayweather Sr said some bad things about me.

MP - That's not what I want for the boxing fans.  Boxing is a sport you know?  Nothing should be personal.  We should learn how to respect each other, respect people.

8CN - You know that most people want to see the fight with you and Mayweather. 

MP - We can give a good fight without talking trash talk.  We can do this without hating somebody.  Outside of the ring, we have to respect people.  You know what I mean.

8CN - I do.

8CN - You met the President of The United States. Is President Obama a boxing fan?

MP - When I met him, I found him to be a very cool down to earth guy.  He's a friendly guy and when I talked to him, I told him that I heard that he's a basketball fan.  He told me that he also likes boxing too.  I invited him to come and watch on May 7th, but he told me he couldn't come but he will watch it on TV.

8CN - So he's going to pay the 49.00 to see it on PPV? (laughing)

MP - (Laughs)
